Jan 21, 2025 · Cori has been interested in wild and heritage herbs and other crops for over twenty years, and has collected seed for nearly 200 food-bearing crops, nearly all of which are open pollinated, with only three hybrid varieties (which she plans to replace with non-hybrid types), and no genetically modified crops of any kind.

This poem was inspired by a number of people in my life, from the abusers to those I saw abused, many of whom seemed complicit in their abuse, if only by their refusal (or inability) to stand up for themselves. I also knew many people, including myself …

Originally written on 19 August 1983, about a grey whale that stranded during our severe spring storms the previous March.
