Mar 22, 2024 · I heard an interesting interview with Matt Damon where he blames it on DVDs going away. Its almost impossible to make a movie for 50m or less today. Even if the movie bombed in theaters it would make money from DVD sales. Studios could be more risky betting on small budget films that could turn out to be a big hit. Money is tighter now.
