Sonic the Hedgehog 3's ending includes a reference to the video games that would easily end up destroying humanity, at least in the real world.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) continues the trend of cranking things up a notch with the introduction of Shadow the Hedgehog onto the silver screen. Roughly adapting elements from the games Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) and Shadow the Hedgehog (2005),

Borderlands, but that's also not to say that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is actually good either. This third movie ends up somewhere in the middle, making it less-than-essential viewing for anyone over the age of 10 who didn't grow up with a Genesis or a Dreamcast in the house.

Sonic the Hedgehog may star the titular blue blur, but it also has a wide and varied cast of characters. Sonic has plenty of friends, from Tails the Fox and Knuckles the Echidna who frequently join him on his adventures to anti-heroes Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 gave fans what they wanted from the start of the film franchise in 2020: Shadow. He was teased at the end of the last movie and this third one does not waste time getting him onscreen.
