Steely Dan's Donald Fagen brusquely rejected the director of the upcoming 'Yacht Rock' documentary when he called up the musician for an interview.

The HBO doc, punningly entitled Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary lands on November 29. It chronicles the rise of the genre in the 1970s and its unlikely comeback over the past decade, with additional profiles of key artists from the genre, such as McDonald, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins and others.

HBO’s original documentary “Music Box: Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary” (not a typo there — though we don’t love the dual colons), directed by Garret Price (“Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage”) and executive produced by Bill Simmons ( “Andre The Giant” ), debuts Friday, November 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It will be available to stream on Max.
