Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to lead the US Navy, has been treated for breast cancer and is free of the disease, the military service said Friday.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti was successfully treated for breast cancer in July, according to the Navy.
Franchetti released her Navigation Plan (NAVPLAN) for America's Warfighting Navy at the Naval War College on September 19, according to the official statment.
The Navy said the service's top admiral is "cancer-free" after surgery last summer and follow-up radiation therapy.

The military branch said Franchetti properly transferred her authority to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations during her surgery.
