A dozen House Republicans on Tuesday helped their Democratic colleagues bypass House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and force a vote to allow House members to vote by proxy for up to three months after having children.

Speaker Johnson said in a press conference that he believes the GOP has enough votes to keep the government funded.

Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who are both from Louisiana, said Trump personally played a big role in accomplishing both legislative wins.
