Investigators from the NTSB and Boeing were expected to join the investigation into South Korea's deadliest air crash.

The acting president ordered an emergency safety inspection of the airline operation system as investigators worked to identify victims and find out what caused the country's deadliest air disaster.

The plane crash that killed 179 people and left two survivors was South Korea’s worst commercial airline disaster. Authorities retrieved the two black boxes, or flight recorders, which are expected to give them critical information about the final moments before the plane exploded as it landed on a regional airport tarmac in the nation’s south.

Experts have raised doubts that a bird strike alone could have caused the fatal plane crash that happened in South Korea on Sunday. Newsweek reached out to the South Korean embassy in Washington, D.C.
