The Met Office has issued an urgent update to a weather alert issued on Thursday. Thunderstorms are set to strike across a vast area of the country today with the national weather service advising that the area of effect has now changed.

The Met Office has warned that much of the country could be at risk of flooding in a few days as a new weather warning has been issued today

A weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy showers is in full force across much of southern England and Wales. The Met Office says damage to buildings as a result of lightning strikes, disruption to public transport and flooding should be expected within the affected areas.
