A SpaceX rocket carried the world's first wooden satellite, LignoSat, into space at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday as part of a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Space has a major sustainability problem. When satellites made mostly of aluminum die fall back down to earth, they combust and create harmful chemicals called aluminum oxides, which can damage the ozone layer.

The first satellite in space made mostly of wood arrived at the International Space Station on Tuesday along with other research and supplies.
