Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has put state resources and agencies on alert ahead of the severe storms projected to slam Houston Thursday afternoon, according to a Thursday news release.  The news came after the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for most of southeast Texas including Houston and Harris County,

Governor Greg Abbott activated Texas emergency resources in anticipation of severe weather in East Texas, preparing swiftwater rescue teams and urban search and rescue units for potential floods and storms.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has activated some of the state's emergency resources due to potential severe weather. The National Weather Service says the risks include large hail, damaging wind, flash flooding and even possible tornadoes on Thursday. Houston is under a Tornado Watch until 7 p.m.
