Two weeks after he drugged and kidnapped Denise Huskins from her Vallejo, California home in 2015, "American Nightmare" kidnapper Matthew Muller allegedly committed another crime in neighboring Contra Costa County.

Matthew Muller, the man who abducted Denise Huskins in Vallejo, sparking a case in which police initially accused her of staging her own kidnapping, has now been charged by Santa Clara prosecutors with breaking into women's homes in Palo Alto and Mountain View,

Years before Denise Huskins was kidnapped from her Vallejo home, held captive, and accused by police of carrying out a “Gone Girl” inspired hoax, Matthew Muller had other targets, investigators said.

In the second attack, on Oct. 18, 2009, Muller allegedly "broke into a Palo Alto home, bound and gagged a woman in her 30s and made her drink Nyquil," prosecutors said. Muller allegedly started to assault her but was persuaded by the victim to stop. "Muller gave the victim crime prevention advice, then fled," the district attorney's office said.
