The first official College Football Playoff rankings were released this week, and while there weren’t many surprises, it makes the rest of the season a bit more intense with teams understanding exactly what they need to do in order to clinch a spot in the highly-coveted 12-team field.

Now it's the SEC's turn. Week 11 of the 2024 season will be primarily defined by huge games in Oxford (Georgia at Ole Miss) and Baton Rouge (Alabama at LSU). The impact these games will have on the SEC and College Football Playoff races is pretty clear.

Those are just a few of the virtually endless possibilities in the race for spots in the Big Ten title game entering the season's final month. If the frontrunner quartet of Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State and Indiana start suddenly suffering losses, there's a group of five teams with two losses in league play that are also technically still alive.

No. 11 Alabama at No. 15 LSU is essentially a Playoff elimination game. But plenty of other matchups have the postseason at stake, too.
