AAP leader Atishi is expected to be sworn in as Delhi Chief Minister on Saturday evening, following Arvind Kejriwal's resignation.

The swearing-in ceremony of AAP leader Atishi as Delhi chief minister is expected to take place at Raj Niwas on Saturday evening, officials said.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi will take oath as Chief Minister of Delhi tomorrow at 4:30 pm. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Raj Bhavan - the Lt Governor's residence - and five AAP MLAs will take oath along with Atishi as ministers.

Atishi to be sworn in as Chief Minister of Delhi, alongside five ministers, on September 21, 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the city's governance.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had initially decided that only Atishi would be sworn in, however, it was later determined that her council of ministers would also take the oath.

Atishi, who was proposed as the CM-designate by Arvind Kejriwal, will take oath along with her council of ministers.

AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, is pushing for early Delhi elections to coincide with Maharashtra’s polls in 2024. After stepping down as Chief Minister, Kejriwal aims to rebuild public trust and energise the party.

Lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Wednesday sent the file on the appointment of the chief minister to the President for approval, proposing Saturday for the swearing-in ceremony
