Tennessee Republicans have cut more than $5.1 billion in taxes over the last 13 years, which included lowering the tax on groceries by 1.25% and sales tax holidays on food in previous years’ budgets.

Voters will decide in November whether they are for or against increasing Knoxville's local option sales tax by 1/2 cent.

During that weekend, clothing, school supplies and computers can be purchased tax-free in Tennessee (certain restrictions apply).
