If you've got a Nest Protect smoke and CO detector, now's your chance to fully integrate it with your Google Home setup.

Users enrolled in the Google Home Public Preview program will get access to several new features, such as support for Nest Protect smoke and CO alarms and Matter-enabled smart locks.

Alongside the Nest updates, the Google Home app is also getting expanded support for smart locks connected via Matter, adding the ability to set passcodes, among other features. The lock updates are rolling out through the app’s “Public Preview” feature on Android, with iOS support coming in early 2025.
