Big Tex put into place at State Fair of Texas in Fair Park
Dallas, Texas - The State Fair of Texas is one week away and Big Tex is taking his place at the center of Fair Park. The 55-foot tall cowboy will be saying "Howdy, folks" to attendees again this year. This will be Big Tex's 72nd year at the fair. Tex will be put into place at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Big Tex has taken his spot at Fair Park as organizers and vendors get ready for the State Fair of Texas. The State Fair of Texas first launched in 1886; Big Tex made his first appearance in 1952.
Big Tex gets installed for the 2024 State Fair of Texas
Fairgoers can see Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas from Sept. 27 through Oct. 20. Back at the State Fair of Texas for the 72nd year, Big Tex was originally built in 1949 for a Christmas Celebration in Kerens, Texas, about an hour southeast of Fair Park.
