S PRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Missourians go to the polls on August 5. Only a few counties will decide races and issues, with limited questions on the ballots. The election features school, county, and citywide issues.

Jackson County legislators will discuss the timing of a recall election for County Executive Frank White at their meeting Monday, July 7.

NIXA, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield-area attorney Lori Rook announced she is running for the Missouri State Senate in 2026. She announced her intent to file for the Republican nomination for District 20 while walking in the Marshfield parade on July 4. District 20 encompasses several counties, stretching from the Springfield area to Lamar.

Residents in two House districts, including one in south St. Louis County, could be without a representative for more than a year if the governor doesn’t schedule a special election.

Cyndia Haggard is charged with one count of election interference, after attorneys with the Secretary of State’s office found she impeded the August 2024 election verification process.

Sample ballots were sent out this week, letting Boone County voters know about the option to expand the senior property tax relief during the August special election. In 2024, Boone County voters approved a measure to freeze property taxes for homeowners aged 62 and older.

House Joint Resolution 73 will put a near-total abortion ban on the November 2026 ballot. The measure will be called Amendment 3.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Monday brought big news in the petition initiative to recall Jackson County Executive Frank White. The county clerk had received communication from the Kansas City and Jackson County Election Boards that they had verified enough petition signatures to trigger an election. When that election will happen remains unclear.

The six-person Missouri Ethics Commission currently has only two members. A spokeswoman for Gov. Mike Kehoe said the process for filling vacant positions is underway.

ST. LOUIS – Jami Cox Antwi, backed by Mayor Cara Spencer, won the Ward 8 election, securing 55% of the vote. The election saw a total of 1,935 voters, with Antwi receiving 1,070 votes.

"Labor is our most expensive thing," Klein told KSHB 41. "We run anywhere from 40-50% labor in our overall revenue."
