The Senate confirmed Doug Burgum as interior secretary late Thursday after President Donald Trump tapped the North Dakota billionaire to spearhead the Republican administration's ambitions to boost fossil fuel production.
President Trump's nominees for top posts in his administration are gearing up for their Senate confirmation hearings, which kicked off earlier this month.
In addition to running the Interior Department, Doug Burgum will also serve as energy czar and chair of a White House energy council.
Many of the oil and gas companies Burgum developed a rapport with are certain to want things from him following his Senate confirmation to the post.
The Senate is set to vote Thursday on President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Interior Department, former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
