At least 14 customers said they inadvertently filled up their vehicles with the wrong fuel on Jan. 19 at a gas station in northeast Ohio due to a mix-up, resulting in possible costly repairs.

The fuel station says diesel fuel was put into unleaded storage tanks and gas in diesel tanks. Impacted customers can call Circle K on its toll-free number if they suspect they are impacted.

The mix-up happened Jan. 19 at the Circle K along Chester Road when diesel fuel was inadvertently poured into the underground storage tank for unleaded gasoline, and vice versa, according to a Monday statement from a Circle K spokesperson.

A week later, a spokesperson from Circle K confirmed that a gas delivery "mistake" was responsible for damaging the customers' cars. In a press release, the company said diesel fuel was erroneously deposited into the wrong underground tank.
