The Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is warning residents of Illinois about the uptick in fraudulent vehicle purchases. According to a press release, Illinois is seeing a rise in fraudulent car sales from out-of-state businesses that are licensed as wholesale dealers.
The break-down: Since the law took effect July 1, the office has issued 35,090 first-time standard driver’s licenses and 60,875 state IDs to individuals without legal status. Meanwhile, 83,297 temporary visitor driver’s license holders made the switch to standard driver’s licenses during that time.
