Mark Selby jokingly threatened to whack Mark Allen with his snooker cue during his Masters defeat against The Pistol. Selby suffered some horrendous misfortune as he fell to a 6-2 loss in the quarter-final. Allen went on to admit that luck was on his side during the contest. Selby’s frustration grew and he could not believe his bad luck at times.

Mark Allen battled his way into the semi-finals of the Masters after a 6-2 win over Mark Selby on Thursday night. It finished an impressive scoreline in Allen’s favour but the match did not feel one-sided, with a string of close and long frames.

The quarter-finals of the Masters begin in earnest on Wednesday. First up, Neil Robertson takes on Shaun Murphy from 13:00.

Shaun Murphy hailed one of the greatest moments of his career after he produced a maximum 147 break in his Masters semi final win over Mark Allen. The former world champion came close to achieving the feat in the previous round against Neil Robertson but managed to snooker himself behind the blue attempting to get up to the yellow.

Mark Allen admitted he got the rub of the green but was nonetheless delighted to overcome Mark Selby and reach the Semi-Finals of the Masters at the Alexandra Palace.
