Tight end Sam LaPorta, who's working back from an AC joint sprain suffered in the team's 26-23 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, missed practice for the second day this week.

The Detroit Lions returned to practice Thursday to prepare for their showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tight end Sam LaPorta did not participate in practice after being listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's estimated practice report.

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta sat out his second straight practice on Thursday, raising questions about his availability for Sunday's game against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars.

LaPorta exited after hauling in a 37-yard pass from Goff that set up a score for running back David Montgomery. He was ruled questionable in the aftermath of the injury and did not return. He finished the game with three catches for 66 yards, including a second quarter 20-yard touchdown catch.

The second-year tight end has had a down season from his impressive rookie campaign, when he hauled in 86-of-120 targets for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. This year through nine games, the 23-year-old has caught 25-of-32 targets for 366 yards and three touchdowns.

Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) took part in the open portion of practice Thursday, but Sam LaPorta with a shoulder injury did not.
