Sacramento County Regional Parks plans to delay the reopening of a gravel road in Sailor Bar to vehicle traffic to address necessary improvements, the county said on Thursday. The delay comes after months of concerns over the plan to reopen the area along the American River Parkway to vehicle traffic.

The reopening of a gravel road to traffic at Sailor Bar has been put on pause. Sacramento County said it's pausing the reopening of the road as it looks to focus on completing ADA improvements to the restrooms and main parking lot off Illinois Avenue.

"We've been writing letters, emailing, calling to say that there's reasons: health and safety, environmental, use for not having cars at Sailor Bar," said Jodi King.

The reopening of a gravel road to traffic at Sailor Bar has been put on pause. The dealership initially tried to cover up the evidence, and it turns out multiple employees knew about the slur that had been left on the customer's car

Sacramento County’s Department of Regional Parks stated they are “focus resources on completing necessary ADA improvements,” to Sailor Bar in a news release.

FAIR OAKS – A community came together in Fair Oaks to protest against the county building a road along a popular walking trail. More than 100 people gathered to show they don't want a road built through a trail in the Sailor Bar area. This area has been closed to cars and trucks since 2009 and people who use this trail want to keep it closed.
