PROVIDENCE − Fire destroyed a century-old church building in the Elmwood neighborhood Wednesday morning, according to Fire Chief Derek Silva. Providence firefighters responded to the Impact Center Providence Church, on the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Greenwich Street, at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Providence fire officials said they are battling a fire at a church on Wednesday.The church is located on Elmwood Avenue, according to the fire department. Officials said parts of the roof of the church has collapsed.
