Eliot Wolf is expected to return as the lead personnel executive for the New England Patriots, per The Athletic’s Chad Graff. The news on Wolf comes after Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced the team’s decision to fire Jerod Mayo as head coach. Some wondered if a potential Mayo firing could lead to the team blowing the entire operation up.

The Patriots will have a new head coach in 2025, but at least two of their top personnel executives will remain with the franchise.

Wolf nailed the quarterback position, which is the No. 1 most crucial element for the Patriots’ return to relevance.

Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf admitted a major organizational shortcoming in development, particularly at the wide receiver position, when reflecting on the 2024 season. Rookie wideouts Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker both fell off a cliff in production with the Patriots, despite being highly touted coming out of college.
