A five-alarm fire broke out early Friday morning in the Bronx, leaving seven people hurt and more than 200 others displaced.Firefighters responded around 1:45 a.m. to a six-story apartment building at 2910 Wallace Avenue in the Allerton section of the borough.

Within an hour, “heavy wind conditions” elevated the fire to five alarms — the highest alarm level indicating a severe fire, according to the FDNY. “The fire had too much headway. It was extremely dangerous for our firefighters,” said John Esposito, the FDNY’s Chief of Department.

Cops were called around 9:30 a.m. to NYCHA’s Mitchel Houses on E. 138th St. near Alexander Ave. in Mott Haven where they found the wounded teen.

On Jan. 3, two 17-year-olds were shot in the Bronx, according to a statement from the police. One was shot in the abdomen and taken to a hospital in stable condition; the other, Andrew Mora, was shot in the chest and died.
