PARIS — France has discussed with Denmark sending troops to Greenland in response to United States President Donald Trump's repeated threats to annex the Danish territory, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.

France is considering deploying troops to Greenland in response to US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about acquiring the Arctic island, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said Tuesday. Barrot confirmed that France discussed the issue with Denmark but stressed there are no immediate plans for action.

Danish PM Frederiksen, however, signalled she had "no reason to believe there is a military threat to Greenland or Denmark."
