New York City woke up to its first white Christmas in 15 years. But only a few areas of the U.S. are likely to see snow in the weather forecast for Christmas 2024.

Nine states from Virginia to Maine are under snow alerts on Christmas Eve morning as a band of snow moves through the Northeast, bringing treacherous driving conditions.

Around 20 million people were under winter weather alerts across parts of the mid-Atlantic and New England, including Philadelphia and Burlington, Vermont.
