A Southern waterbird known as the anhinga, or “devil bird,” made its first documented appearance in Maine last week, perched on a log in a flooded meadow in a small Lincoln County town.
Birders shared a rare encounter with a southern water bird, the anhinga, when it visited a small Maine town earlier last week. It is the first time an anhinga has been spotted in the northern state.
