The first clear evidence that Native Americans consumed hallucinogenic plants at rock art sites has been found in the Pinwheel Cave in Southern California, according to new research.

The team visited 157 sites that had rock art, 13 of which with engravings more than 13 feet in dimension. Riris et. al. Separately, the team unearthed ceramics from the riparian ecosystem.
