DeviantArt recently released a Stable Diffusion-based AI art tool called DreamUp and a flag letting creators opt in to AI training datasets, creating controversy in the art community.

DeviantArt, which has been an online community for artists since 2000, hopes to begin tackling some of the ownership issues at the intersection of art and AI with its new AI image generator, DreamUp.

The issue, which may decide the case, remains contested. The litigation revolves around Stability’s Stable Diffusion, which is incorporated into the company’s AI image generator DreamStudio.
