Red Velvet debuted on Aug. 1, 2014, under SM Entertainment with four members and welcomed member Yeri in 2015, making it a five-member group. The members are Irene, Wendy, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri.
Irene debuted as a member of Red Velvet alongside Seulgi, Wendy and Joy on August 1, 2014. After releasing a couple of tracks, the quartet was joined by Yeri in March 2015.
In March, when Irene told her followers that she was reading Kim Ji Young, Born 1982 – a feminist book which addresses the patriarchal nature of South Korean society – many male fans were angered.

SEOUL – South Korean singers Irene and Seulgi of K-pop girl group Red Velvet will launch a concert tour in Asia in mid-June, the quintet’s label SM Entertainment announced on April 14.
