“We’re looking at 200 to 250 horses all over the Valley,” said project founder Scott Sterling of the Public Art Initiative for the Museum of the San Fernando Valley.
The project began to grow, and soon Portlanders were tethering up toy horses all over the city. Many of the horses are brightly painted or have little notes or special touches that tell a story.
The horses are part of Center City's ongoing fund-raising project Jason Herrick chairs the Quarter Horse committee for Center City. The Hoof Prints project began in 2002.
The art piece will now be displayed inside the Muhammad Ali Center. Others came to Churchill Downs for the regular Derby traditions, like the fashion and horses.
