A state of emergency was declared for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) on Friday as officials warn of the "worst bushfire threat" in the territory in nearly 20 years.

A geological map of Australia has, however, never been issued. Such a work would be invaluable, and the materials obtained are quite sufficient to justify an attempt being made to carry it out.
