FIFA is accused of going back on its promise to ensure the safety of workers on World Cup-related projects, as it refused to allow inspectors to assess the cond

The Building and Wood Workers’ Union (BWI) says its representatives were denied access to Mexico’s Estadio Azteca for a pre-arranged visit.

Ambet Yuson, the general secretary of the Building and Wood Workers’ International, said FIFA told them that they didn’t need inspections because the local workers already have a union and that there have been no incidents so far.

An international federation of labour unions on Tuesday said FIFA denied it access to the Azteca Stadium to inspect the conditions of construction workers doing renovations ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
