In regard to under-enrollment, Lee added that most still hold a gender-based view of home economics. “Home economics is often viewed as housewives' work,” he said.

"The previous home economics teacher had transferred to the school in Eugene, so I interviewed with the Russellville School District and was hired, beginning in the fall of 1970," she said.
