Delhi witnessed its highest December rainfall in 15 years, causing significant waterlogging and traffic issues. The city's maximum temperature plunged to 14.6°C, marking the lowest in the last five years.

According to IMD, in Delhi, the lowest December temperatures in the past five years were- 15.9 degrees Celsius, 15.6 degrees Celsius, 17.8 degrees Celsius, 15.2 degrees Celsius, and 14.3 degrees Celsius.

Delhi recorded 41.2 mm rain in the past 24 four hours till 8.30 a.m. on Saturday (December 28, 2024), marking the highest single-day December rainfall in 101 years, the weather department said.

According to the IMD, a western disturbance is likely to interact with lower-level easterly winds, resulting in scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall over the western Himalayan region and intense cold waves in northern states.
