The world is down yet another manual pickup truck today as Jeep drops the six-speed manual option from the Gladiator for its 2025 model year. This news comes just a day after Jeep made the manual the only available option for the 2025 Wrangler’s 3.

Stellantis is missing out on my humble opinions as Jeep Wrangler sales continue to tank. I feel like making the 2025 Jeep Wrangler exclusively pair the V6 engine with a manual transmission is limiting.

Staring with the new model year, you'll no longer be able to buy a Wrangler with the venerable Pentastar V-6 and an automatic transmission. Instead, the base model Jeep Wrangler will keep its 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6, but only with a six-speed manual. Previously, the slushbox was a $4500 upgrade.

Nearly three months after Jeep announced the Wrangler 392 Final Edition wasn’t so final, the company has revealed the other changes to the 2025 Wrangler. Unfortunately, they’re a mixed bag as a popular powertrain combination has been dropped entirely.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler now has a turbocharged four-cylinder as the standard engine. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. Updates also include new features such as standard power windows and power locks for all models, and optional Active Cabin Ventilation for equipped variants.

That’s sad and perplexing as the only powertrain combination for the 2025 Gladiator is one that was recently killed off in the 2025 Wrangler. In that model, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is now paired exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission as the eight-speed automatic is reserved for the four-cylinder, Hemi V8, and plug-in hybrid powertrain.
