Deutsche Lufthansa AG is on track to complete its takeover of ITA Airways after ironing out differences with the Italian government over the purchase of the unprofitable carrier. The Italian government said late Monday that it has presented a set of remedies to the European Commission over concerns about the deal.

Lufthansa Group and MEF, the owner of ITA Airways, agreed to finalize the merger and sent its remedy package to the European Commission.

Italy's finance ministry has sent details to the European Commission of the remedies package supporting Lufthansa's planned acquisition of a 41% stake in national carrier ITA Airways.

Rome and Lufthansa had been locked into over a year of tough negotiations on the price and terms of the deal. ITA emerged from the failed national carrier Alitalia in 2020.
