Scammers are apparently not taking any time off for the holidays. They are bombarding Bay Area cell phones with a blast of bogus text messages about Fastrak.
California officials say beware of toll scam texts, which are on the rise
California Attorney General Rob Bonta on Thursday warned drivers of a significant increase in text-based toll scam activity.

Why it's a scam: Bonta's office says FasTrak, the state's electronic toll collection system, does not request payment by sending you a text with a website link. The Toll Roads, a state tolling agency, does not send texts to people who don't have an account with them.
Scammers once again targeting California drivers with FasTrak text scam
Those who click on the link provided by the scammers are often targeted with so-called "phishing" attacks, in which crooks attempt to obtain both money and personal information such as credit card numbers that can be used for identity theft, according to the DOJ.
