A convicted child-killer and rapist was denied parole by a jury, according to prosecutors, nearly a decade since his crimes shocked Santa Cruz County and the rest of the country.

A Santa Cruz jury has decided that a convicted child murderer and rapist will not be released from custody a little under a decade from when he killed his 8-year-old neighbor.

Prosecutors argued that Adrian Gonzalez, who raped and murdered an 8-year-old, is still a risk to the community and should remain in prison. Jurors agreed.
