This is a great reserve if you like wetland birds. There are several hides to view wildlife in (or shelter from the rain). The RSPB volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. Such a shame that the…Full review by jasmine674343

Hello! We do see peregrines on the reserve! The large concentrations of wildfowl and waders regularly attract hunting peregrines - especially in autumn and winter. They like to rest on the pylons that over look the reserve from the northern side so that is a good place to walk - rather than one hide in particular. When they are around we can see them from all over the reserve, including the visitor centre, with binoculars. I hope that helps!

There are regular guided walks on Wednesday (9.39 am)and Sunday (1 pm) where a guide takes you round the reserve (about three hours) and points out the birds you see and a bit about the history of the site. We've done the Sunday Stroll a few times and the group has never been over 8 people, just us and one other once. The cost is £5 on top of entrance I think. If you want a private guide they are very friendly so I suggest you email them with the date you want to visit and ask if they can help. Enjoy your visit - for such a small area there is a mix of habitats and lots to see and if you time it right with the tide then you can also see birds from the river path along the edge of the reserve
