Protecting, rescuing, and providing sanctuary for elephants worldwide. Global Sanctuary for Elephants is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2013 by Scott and Katherine Blais. GSE provides an experienced expert response to the critical needs of captive elephants by creating vast safe spaces where they are able to heal both physically and emotionally. GSE’s pilot project is Elephant Sanctuary Brazil, the first and only elephant sanctuary in South America. ESB welcomed its first rescues in 2016, with on-going rescues since that time. The sanctuary is not open to the public.
