WEBOct 15, 2017 · Hostel was torture literally for the sake of enjoyment. Not much rhyme or reason beyond some sick people wanting to torture and murder others. Nothing like that had existed before to my knowledge and that's why it became a cultural thing. It tapped into xenophobia people experience when traveling and the untouched genre of torture horror.
